EP Update May 2025
On the EP, Re-recording "Matte Black," inspiring peers that keep me going and a warm regards to those who've grabbed an Zine.
This week I took a pause to deliver these bars titled, Phish Food, go check it out.
Peace, much love, and I hope this finds you in good sprits. If not, know that I am sending you love as I am familiar with those dark days. Thank you to all of those who’ve pick up a Zine—scroll to the end to see them!
Ever since Easter, April 20th, I’ve been heads down focused on sorting out my EP. I haven’t had much time for writing or reading since then. Excitedly working on getting this EP to you all.
The content of the EP are five tracks which were primarily written and recorded between 2020-2021. Since then I had been working doing the audio editing, cleaning up, and final mastering myself.
It's been a long journey and I had to admit that I should invest in getting some help in editing the project. I’ve sent over four of the five demos for mixing and mastering. We have finished mixing tracks one and two.
The reason why I have only four out of the five tracks prepped for editing is because track number four, “Matte Black,” needs to be re-recorded. The reason why I need to re-record this track is because the quality of the recording isn’t that great, and I believe I lost the original recording as well!
I’m a bit anxious about re-recording, “Matte Black,” which is one of my favorites on this EP. My currency desk setup is in between the dining room and living room, and we have a toddler who rules both domains.
… the list of excuses are long, and the emotions tied to them, deep. I have to recognize that these insecurities are not due to external factors and pray to have the courage and strength to address the inner issues so I can free up my emotional energy to pore myself back into the work. Back into you.
So, though I am not looking forward to re-recording “Matte Black” I’m hopeful some spiritual and inner work can be done in confronting this track because this is a track that is very special to me and I look forward to sharing it with you.
I have to think through logistics around recording the track. What time a day works best based on my son’s schedule, my wife’s schedule, and set up this makeshift booth I use to record songs.
I think what is the hardest work of all is the emotions that are involved in performing. I have a lot of respect for those of you who decided to speak publicly, read your work, recite your poems, or read your stories.
I’ve landed on a title--I think--for my EP but I will hold off on announcing the title until I come to a decision on the title of the final track. I might just have to do the
thing and use some parentheses.Recent post I dropped this past week
